SMART-Lab
Smart Materials for Advanced Robotic Technologies
Our lab is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive research environment. We encourage students and researchers from marginalized groups and/or minorities to apply to join our team. Furthermore, we are always eager to take part in outreach opportunities related to this cause, so please do not hesitate to contact us with any inquiry.
SMART-Lab particularly encourages, and supports applications from Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit and Metis) and Black researchers who intend to pursue their PhD at the University of Waterloo through the Indigenous and Black Engineering and Technology Momentum Fellowship (IBET). As a flagship program, the IBET PhD fellowship will provide financial support of $30,000 per year for 4 years for University of Waterloo recipients. Please check the IBET webpage for further information about this prestigious fellowship and contact us if you have any questions.
Financial Support
We are always looking for bright and driven students (graduate, undergraduate, and exchange), postdoctoral fellows, and visiting researchers to join our team.
Successful candidates will receive financial support according to regulations of the University of Waterloo. In addition, there are other sources of funding from the university, and from the provincial and federal external agencies that could financially assist graduate or undergraduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. You can read more details about awards, funding, and other sources of financial assistance on the university website.
Students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting researchers with external financial support are always welcome to contact us and inquire about potential positions in our team.
